faq

So why would I want to use natural/organic products?

Because it's better for you!

Our skin is the largest organ in our body, a living, breathing protective covering. Almost 60% of what we apply to our skin is absorbed, a fact demonstrated by the use of nicotine and hormone patches.

Many off the shelf skincare products, even more expensive brands, contain a lot of synthetic ingredients and chemicals which are not good for our skin and cause us to suffer with allergies such as dermatitis and eczema or to break out in spots and pimples. Not to mention the cocktail of chemicals that are being flushed into our watercourses.

At OliveOrganic, we prefer to stick with what's natural. We don't think our bodycare products need to contain lots of synthetic chemicals. Plants are nature's natural healers. It has been said that for every ailment, nature has provided a cure. We like to think so. It certainly provides us with an abundance of naturally fragrant essential oils and herbs.

Enjoy your Natural You!

When will my order arrive?

UK delivery addresses -
We believe that once you've purchased something from our site, you will not want to wait long before you receive your order. Therefore, the majority of UK orders are sent First Class Post.

All orders received by 1pm on a weekday we aim to despatch the same day. Orders received after 1pm on a weekday we aim to despatch the next working day, although we often send out later received orders the same day. Orders received over the weekend will be despatched on the next business day.

All being well, you should receive your order within 2-3 working days of ordering but please allow 7 days for your order to arrive, especially at busy periods such as Christmas.

Sometimes the post office is super quick and many lucky customers receive their orders the next day!

If you have not received your order within 7 days and have not been advised of a delay then PLEASE CONTACT US.

Orders over 1.5kg may be sent by Royal Mail Standard Parcels, which takes approx three-five days.

Outside of the UK -
If your delivery address is outside of the United Kingdom, your order will take a bit longer to arrive and you will be advised of despatch details by email.

Packaging info

We use recycled/recyclable/biodegradable packaging as much as possible.

We do tend to re-use packaging so although we do not buy 'environmentally unfriendly' packaging, we do re-use it, which is more useful than just throwing it away.

The tissue paper that we use for packing is acid-free and we re-use bubblewrap, boxes and packing peanuts that we receive.

I'm not sure which products are right for my skin. Can you help?

Yes of course. We're happy to help.
If you email us with some details of your skin type, your usual cleansing routine, type of products you like to use (eg cleansing lotion or facewash) and any problems that you may be having and we will recommend some suitable products for you to try.

We look forward to hearing from you!

I've heard a lot about parabens - what are they?

PARABENS (methyl, propyl, butyl etc.) are synthetic preservatives found in many skincare products and toiletries. Parabens are oestrogen mimics: butylparaben is the most oestrogenic, followed by propylparaben, ethylparaben and methylparaben.
Our products use natural preservatives and essential oils to prolong the life of the products.

Some other ingredients you may want to avoid are

SODIUM LAURYL SULPHATE
A common detergent found in thousands of cosmetic products including shampoos, toothpastes, creams and lotions. It is a strong degreaser that can irritate and dry skin or hair. At its worst SLS can cause cracking of the epidermis and severe inflammation of the underlying layer. Not to be confused with Sodium Laureth Sulphate/Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES) which is a close relation of SLS. Products containing SLS should be rinsed off thoroughly after use.

DIETHANOLAMINE (DEA)/TRIETHANOLAMINE (TEA)
Synthetic compounds made from Ammonia and Ethylene oxide. These are used as emulsifiers and in acidity control and found in many skin lotions, eye gels, moisturizing creams, shaving foams, shampoos and dermatological soaps. May contain nitrosamines that are potential carcinogens. They can also cause severe facial dermatitis and contact dermatitis.

PETROLATUM (Petroleum Jelly or "Vaseline")
This is a heavy oil extracted from petroleum. It can be allergenic, does not absorb well and so may clog pores. It smothers skin so it cannot breathe naturally and may also cause discoloration of the skin.

PROPYLENE GLYCOL
Derived from petroleum propylene glycol and used as a humectant (moisturizer), surfactant and solvent in many products. In industry it is used in antifreeze and hydraulic brake fluid! It can penetrate the outermost skin and carry other ingredients into the deeper layers of the epidermis. Can cause allergic and toxic reactions including dermatitis in some individuals.

PHLALATES

Phlalates are used by manufacturers of many products to prolong their scent. Phthalates are potentially carcinogenic and damaging to embryos and newborns.

We are pleased to say that none of our products contain any of these ingredients

Do you produce a catalogue?

No we don't.
We are constantly seeking out new and exciting organic products to add to our range. We feel it would be wasteful to produce a catalogue which would quickly go out of date. Our webshop is our catalogue. If you need any further information of any of our lovely products, then please ask. We will be delighted to help.
